Charlie Rose talks to Eric Schmidt, Marc Andreessen and Walt Mossberg on Steve Jobs’ legacy:
SNL parodied the Charlie Rose Steve Jobs roundtable in a sketch that didn’t make it to air and remains a web exclusive.
The SNL Sketch features Fred Armisen as Rupert Murdoch though the real Murdoch was partnered with Apple and Steve Jobs was supposed to introduce the Newscorp iPad magazine The Daily on stage with Murdoch prior to taking medical leave before the app’s February 2nd launch.
Steve Jobs biographer Walter Isaacson noted that following New Corp.’s annual management retreat in June 2010 Jobs told Rupert Murdoch he’s “blowing it with Fox News” calling it a “destructive force in our society”.
“The axis today is not liberal and conservative, the axis is constructive-destructive, and you’ve cast your lot with the destructive people. Fox has become an incredibly destructive force in our society. You can be better, and this is going to be your legacy if you’re not careful.”
Jobs asked Murdoch for a reel of Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck shows, intending to give Murdoch a reel of The Daily Show targeting Fox News moments but the exchange never took place.
